It has been only a week since the announcement of optional travel insurance scheme for train passenger, and looks like IRCTC may make some changes in the premiun of the scheme.
IRCTC may plan to increase the premium of its highly successful optional insurance scheme to Rs 5 from the existing 92 paise.
It stated that , the increase in premium of insurance scheme will be benefial for calculation purpose, IRCTC officials said to Zee Business.
Further, the Indian railways may also plan to introduce this scheme to passenger reservation system (PRS) or Window ticket counter.
The logic behind the hike in premium between Rs 1 – Rs 5 will help in monetary transactions at Window ticket counters.
The IRCTC officials also said, that the increase will also cover more features like mobile and laptop theft which is currently not covered.
The railway association may soon introduce its optional insurance scheme on its mobile app.
