CHENNAI: Legal profession is insecure and insurance is indispensable for lawyers, says Chief Justice of Madras high court Sanjay Kishan Kaul.
Speaking at the launch a medical insurance scheme for lawyers here on Monday, the chief justice said the earning of an advocate was directly proportional to the amount of work he or she received daily.
While lawyers started with low salary, once successful they had a large income, he said.
The bar council’s role was crucial in educating and informing young legal professionals, he added.
The scheme enables advocates and their family members to avail medical insurance up to Rs 2 lakh. The Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry had initiated the launch of the insurance scheme.
